Episode Notes

  • Will disability lawyers take on cases with very limited value?
  • I am 58 years old and have been getting disability benefits for nearly a year. My body just gave out and I needed knee replacement surgery. The insurance company is now telling me that they are cutting off my benefits.  At my age, is it worth fighting the insurance company?
  • It seems like LTD insurers can pretty much do whatever they want until a legal claim is started.  Why is that the case?
  • I have COPD and diabetes which makes me very high risk for COVID. I’ve been on medical leave as a result. I applied for LTD benefits but was denied as the insurer said neither of my conditions actually prevent me from working. Can they do that?
  • Do most disability legal claims resolve with a judge making a ruling in court on who wins and who loses the case?
  • I was involved in a bad motorcycling accident years ago and  I had to stop working last year when I started getting chronic sinus infections.  My doctors still don’t know what’s wrong. I’ve been denied LTD and they say that the chronic sinus infections and back pain isn’t severe enough.
  • When pursuing disability benefits, what government assistance should you be pursuing?
  • My husband was in a car accident years ago and broke his back. He hasn’t worked in a while and got disability benefits but was cut off in 2019 and we never got a letter from insurance telling us why. Is it too late to start a legal claim?
  • Can you still get disability benefits if you are on a temporary layoff from work?
