Chapter 1:

Responsiveness of your lawyer

Responsiveness in the legal industry.  You have a right to have a responsive lawyer, if you have an ongoing claim and your lawyer is not responsive you need to let them know that you want a lawyer who is going to respond to their questions.

Chapter 2:

If I try to go back to work after being on LTD but am unsuccessful can I go back on LTD?

I have been on Long-term disability after suffering a broken neck.  I thought I should try to go back to work and was recruited for a great position, but now I am worried I am still not well enough to return to work.  I am due to start soon but don’t know if I should.  My concern is that if I start this job and cannot do it that I will not be able to go back on LTD.  What should I do?

Should I take a lump-sum payment from my insurer?

My husband was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer.  Due to spinal cancer and radiation, he is unable to work and has been on LTD.  The insurance adjuster called us to offer a lump sum settlement and offered to pay or cut us off.  Should we take a lump sum payment from our insurance company?

Teachers who need help dealing with LTD issues

Teachers have to deal with high-stress situations in the course of their jobs.  Their LTD issues often don’t receive the support they need from the legal reps from their unions.  We can help teachers who have had problems with LTD claims.  A recent case in the media that was handled by James K. Fireman, was for teacher, Julie Austin, who suffered a brain injury while at work.

What can I do if my adjuster thinks I should go back to work before I am ready?

My husband has been on LTD for over a year.  The adjuster is pushing him to start a back to work program.  He doesn’t feel ready to return.  What can we do about this?

I have been on LTD for 3 years, now the insurance company wants to cut me off because they have a video of me going shopping and picking up my kids.  I don’t know what to do.
