What can I do if my union is not helping with my LTD claim?

00:26 – The Week That Was:
I have been off from my teaching career for the last five years. OTIP denied my appeal and my Union is taking too long to address my Appeal claiming it is long and needs time. I was hoping to get some advice. I am not sure what steps to take. What should I do?

Can I go after my lawyer if I was not properly represented?

04:00 – I have a problem that I need advice on, I was in a car accident in 2016 I had a lawyer that was representing me, but he never trusted me and pushed me to accept a lower amount for settlement. I am in bad shape and had to sell my business because I could not continue to attend. Can I go after my lawyer for receiving an inadequate settlement?

What should I do if my insurance company has cut off my LTD because a private investigator saw me going out for coffee?

08:35 – I have been on long-term disability and was recently cut off because my insurer hired an investigator who saw me doing activities that my psychologist requested me to do. They saw me go to a coffee shop with my father and cut me off as a result. Is there anything I can do?

Should I ask my insurer to reconsider my cutoff after the cutoff date?

18:03 – My husband was recently told that his long-term disability benefits will be cut off at the end of next February because they think that he should be able to do another job. He is 53 years old and works as a general manager of a large department store. He’s been off work because of a stroke and depression and his doctors don’t think that he will be ready to go back to any type of work for quite a while. We’re not really sure what we should do. Should we wait and see if he can go back to work in February? Can we ask the insurance company to reconsider in February if he is not able to work?

What should I do if I have been in a car accident?

22:35 – My son was in a car crash 3 months ago on the highway and was hit from the back by a big truck. His car flipped a few times and he and his wife were injured badly. The police and ambulance said that they didn’t know how they survived it. My son had several broken bones and a concussion and his wife was also injured badly on the right side of her body. They were both working full-time before the accident. Now he is back to work only part-time several hours a week but she is still not working. I wanted to know if you can help them and what they need to do legally.

Does surveillance in an LTD claim happen often and can an insurance company cut you off because of it?

28:35

Is there anything I can do if I missed my insurance deadline due to a medical condition?

34:34 – A good friend of mine was just denied long term disability because the insurance company says that she applied too late. She missed the deadline by 9 days and the reason was that she is suffering from mental illness. She is about to be evicted from her apartment and I’m trying to figure out how to help her. She’ll probably move in with me for a while but I was wondering if you can help her with the insurance company. Can they deny her because she was late by a week and a half in applying? That doesn’t seem fair.
