Experience
James K. Fireman is a personal injury and disability lawyer and National Practice Leader of Samfiru Tumarkin LLP’s Disability & Personal Injury Law practice group. He represents clients in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
James has built a reputation within the industry as a fierce, compassionate, and creative advocate for his clients. His practice is focused on serious personal injury and disability cases. James has appeared as counsel on trials and motions before various levels of court, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
In addition to authoring papers on current legal issues for well-known legal publications, he is a guest instructor for the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop at Osgoode Hall in Toronto and has been a speaker at several legal conferences. Prior to joining Samfiru Tumarkin, James was a partner at a prominent personal injury law firm.
Away from the office, James is a dedicated husband and father of two young children. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing baseball, and keeping up-to-date on American politics.

The program is Canada’s only TV show on long-term disability rights that provides viewers on Global TV and CTV in Ontario, BC and Alberta with the inside edge on how to defend their rights when their long-term disability claim is denied or cut off.

Abused Teacher Wins LTD Legal Fight
James successfully helped an Ontario teacher win her long-term disability battle against the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP) for $113,000. Her LTD claim had been cut off while she was off work following a vicious attack by a student. James shared her story with Global News.
Sandra Bullock’s Disability Payments Reinstated
Thanks to intervention by James, Sun Life reinstated long-term disability payments for Georgetown resident Sandra Bullock. She had originally been denied coverage, despite her suffering from major depression, anxiety and severe migraines.
