Latest Ramboll Layoffs And Restructuring
Ramboll announced a company-wide restructuring aimed at simplifying management structures, reducing overlapping responsibilities and improving profitability.
- October 27, 2026: Ramboll announced plans to eliminate approximately 400 roles worldwide.
- November 2026: The company expects to complete the planned role reductions by the end of the month, subject to local consultation requirements.
- January 2027: Ramboll expects its new organizational structure to take effect around the middle of the month.
In its official restructuring announcement, Ramboll CEO Christian Jensby said many affected positions are likely to be leadership roles, although employees at other levels may also be impacted.
The company reported approximately 18,000 employees globally and hasn’t identified specific Canadian job losses.
For Canadian employees, the important question is whether their severance package reflects everything they’re owed.
How Much Severance Does Ramboll Pay In Canada?
There is no single severance package that applies to every Ramboll employee. What you’re owed depends on your age, years of service, position, compensation and employment contract.
Non-unionized employees in Ontario, Alberta and BC can receive up to 24 months’ compensation. That’s substantially more than the minimum amounts required under provincial employment standards legislation.
Your severance package may need to include:
- Base salary during your notice period.
- Performance bonuses and incentive compensation that form part of your earnings.
- Health, dental, pension and other employment benefits.
- Other compensation provided under your employment arrangements.
Long-serving employees and senior professionals may be owed substantially more than their employer’s initial offer.

Severance For Ramboll Managers And Senior Professionals
Ramboll’s restructuring is expected to affect leadership roles, making severance especially important for managers, directors and senior consultants.
Employees in specialized or senior positions may face longer job searches, particularly when comparable roles are limited.
Factors that can affect severance include:
- Your seniority and management responsibilities.
- Your years of service and age.
- The availability of comparable jobs in your field.
- Bonuses, benefits and other components of your compensation.
A standard company-wide severance formula may not reflect your full legal entitlement.

What If Ramboll Changes Your Role Instead Of Laying You Off?
Ramboll plans to simplify management layers and reorganize responsibilities across its global operations.
You don’t necessarily have to accept a major change to your employment.
If you’re demoted, lose significant management responsibilities, receive a major pay cut or face another substantial change, you may have a claim for constructive dismissal.
Not every change qualifies, and your employment agreement matters.
Don’t resign or agree to new terms without understanding how the changes affect your rights.
What If Ramboll Terminates You Outside The Restructuring?
You don’t need to be part of the announced 400 job cuts to qualify for severance.
If Ramboll eliminates your position or terminates you individually, you may still be owed compensation.
That includes non-unionized employees working in engineering, environmental consulting, architecture, project management, administration and leadership.
Even if Ramboll says you were fired for cause, that doesn’t automatically mean you lose your severance rights. Poor performance or a single workplace mistake often isn’t enough to deny severance.
Your rights don’t disappear because your termination wasn’t part of a public layoff announcement.
What Should You Do Before Signing A Ramboll Severance Package?
- Get everything in writing. Keep your termination letter, employment agreement, bonus plan and proposed release.
- Review your full compensation. Your severance may include bonuses, benefits and other compensation—not just salary.
- Have your package checked. An employment lawyer can explain what you’re owed and whether there’s room to negotiate.
⚠️ A Signing Deadline Doesn’t End Your Rights. Ramboll may give you a deadline to accept its severance offer, but that’s different from the legal deadline to pursue compensation. Signing a valid release typically prevents you from seeking more. Get advice before signing.
