Woman dead following ride-share collision in Oshawa

Incident details

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is investigating a fatal ride-share collision in Oshawa.

  • The incident took place near Taunton Road and Mary Street North around 4:20 p.m. ET on Feb. 5.
  • DRPS said in a news release that a woman was riding in a vehicle when it came to a stop. After she exited the vehicle, she was struck by it as it pulled away.
  • “The female [pedestrian] was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased,” the release reads.
  • Const. Emily Mitchell confirmed to CBC Toronto that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Investigation updates

The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
