Woman, 75, dead after head-on crash with teen driver south of Westlock
Incident details
Alberta RCMP are investigating a fatal head-on collision involving a 16-year-old driver south of Westlock.
- Officials say the crash took place on Highway 44 near Highway 651 around 5:30 p.m. MT on Nov. 14.
- The teen driver reportedly crossed the centre line and struck a vehicle heading northbound on the highway.
- Emergency crews took the 16-year-old to hospital. Their injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.
- The driver of the vehicle heading northbound, a 49-year-old woman, is being treated for serious injuries. Her passenger, a 75-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation updates
The cause of the head-on crash remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
