Toronto, ON – In a tragic incident early Tuesday morning, a male driver lost his life in a violent two-vehicle collision in Etobicoke’s industrial area. The crash occurred near Albion Road and Claireport Crescent around 10:10 a.m., according to a Toronto police news release.

Incident Details

Police reports indicate that a Nissan sedan was traveling eastbound on Albion Road while a transport truck was heading westbound. The sedan collided with the transport truck just west of Claireport Crescent, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the Nissan sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not disclosed the driver’s age or identity. Another individual involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Vision Zero and Road Safety

This tragic accident marks the fifth automobile-related fatality on Toronto roads in 2024, as recorded on the Toronto Police Service’s Vision Zero dashboard. Vision Zero, a road safety initiative introduced by the city in 2016, aims to eliminate traffic-related deaths. Despite the ongoing efforts, achieving this goal remains a challenge.
