Toronto driver charged with impaired driving after QEW crash in Mississauga

Early Sunday morning, a crash occurred on the westbound lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) near Dixie Road in Mississauga. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the incident happened around 4:30 a.m.

The collision involved the car hitting a barrier, resulting in debris being scattered across the highway. Multiple vehicles subsequently hit the debris. Photos shared by the OPP Highway Safety Division show extensive damage to the front end of the car.

Victim information
The driver involved in the crash has been identified as a 32-year-old man from Toronto. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries reported despite the significant damage to the vehicle.
Legal action
- The driver has been charged with impaired driving and having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
- Pending conviction, the driver is facing a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
