On July 30, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a tragic collision occurred on Highway 144 in the Dowling area of Onaping Falls, Ontario. A motor vehicle struck a pedestrian who was in a wheelchair, causing severe injuries.

Victim information
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical care, the victim passed away.
Charges and investigation
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a thorough investigation, which led to the closure of Highway 144 in both directions for nearly five hours. As a result of their findings, a 20-year-old individual from Greater Sudbury has been charged with careless driving causing death and stunt driving for excessive speed.
