What’s Happening at Meta?
Meta is reportedly shifting approximately 7,000 workers to AI-focused roles as it prepares to trim around 10% of its headcount on May 20, 2026.
The units where staff are being transferred to include:
- Applied AI Engineering
- Agent Transformation Accelerator XFN
- Central Analytics
- Enterprise Solutions
The tech giant is also closing around 6,000 vacancies as part of the restructuring process.

It remains unclear if any Canadian employees at Meta are affected by the May restructuring.
According to LinkedIn, the company currently has more than 1,100 workers in the country.
