“Thought I’d Retire There”: Intel Technician Job Hunting in His 60s

A sign saying

Did Intel Disrupt a Technician’s Retirement Plans?

Yes — Brad Jenkins is currently looking for a new job in his 60s after Intel let him go during a workforce reduction in July 2025.

“I thought I’d retire [at Intel], but I was wrong,” Jenkins told Business Insider.

“My last day of employment was July 31. Since then, I’ve been struggling to find work, and retirement isn’t feasible for me right now.”

The tech giant hired him as a technician in 2021 at the age of 59 — surviving multiple rounds of job cuts over the years.
