Highway 12 crash: 2-vehicle collision in Ramara leaves 2 critically injured

Ramara Township, ON – A serious collision on Highway 12 near Concession 1 in Ramara Township has left two people with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday.

Incident Details

Emergency crews arrived to find one vehicle in a ditch and another vehicle with considerable damage blocking the highway. Firefighters worked to free the driver from the vehicle in the ditch. Both drivers were initially taken to nearby hospitals for treatment and later transferred to trauma centres in the Toronto area.

Suspected Impaired Driving

Police officers at the scene suspected the driver of the other vehicle, a 52-year-old woman from Scarborough, to be intoxicated. She has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Road Closure and Investigation

The highway was closed for several hours to allow for a thorough police investigation but has since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.

Call for Witnesses

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or has dash camera footage to contact the Orillia OPP.
