Fiery Tesla crash in Toronto leaves 4 people dead, woman seriously injured

Four people are dead and one woman has been rushed to hospital after a Tesla crashed into a guardrail in Toronto.
- Toronto Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the Lake Shore Boulevard East and Cherry Street area just after midnight on Oct. 24.
- Officials say the Tesla hit the guardrail hard enough that its battery burst into flames.
- The driver of the electric vehicle was among the four people pronounced dead at the scene.
- Bystanders managed to pull a female passenger out of the Tesla. While her injuries are considered serious, the woman is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigation updates
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials say speed appears to be a factor at this time.
