Father, daughter dead after being struck by vehicle in Pickering
Incident details
A man and his three-year-old daughter are dead after being struck by a vehicle in Pickering.
The incident took place at the intersection of Taunton Road and Brock Road at around 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 21.
- The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) told 680 NewsRadio that prior to the collision, the pair were involved in a two-vehicle crash, which caused their Honda to enter a ditch.
- The father removed his daughter from the Honda and decided to cross Taunton Road.
- While crossing Taunton Road, the pair was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
- The father and the daughter were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the pair succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead.
- The driver of the vehicle that struck the pair, a 52-year-old man from Ajax, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Investigation updates
The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. Officials said charges are unlikely.
