38-Year-Old Man Dead After Wrong-Way Hwy. 401 Crash East of Toronto
A 38-year-old man is dead following a wrong-way collision on Highway 401 near the Pickering-Ajax border on April 26, 2026.
What Happened?
- The incident took place in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Westney Road South before 3am ET on April 26.
- According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a pickup truck was travelling west in the eastbound lanes and collided with a passenger vehicle.
- The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Emergency crews took the driver of the pickup truck, a 41-year-old, to hospital with minor injuries.

OPP charged the driver of the pickup truck with dangerous and impaired operation of a vehicle causing death.
