Employment lawyer Lior Samfiru on Allstate layoffs

Allstate Canada appears to have let go of a number of employees in a mass layoff in Ontario. While the company has yet to comment on the terminations, it is important for employees facing unemployment to be aware of their rights and entitlements.

“A number of Allstate employees have been in touch with Samfiru Tumarkin LLP this month, claiming that the company has fired as many as 100 in Ontario,” says Lior Samfiru employment lawyer and co-founding Partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP to Insurance Business magazine.

Samfiru explains that the firm has looked into whether or not terminated employees were offered appropriate severance pay. “A more difficult employment landscape can result in enhanced considerations for compensation,” Samfiru says.

“We are still assessing their termination packages before they sign off on them, to ensure that they haven’t been wrongfully dismissed.”
