Driver critical following two-vehicle Hwy. 401 crash in Port Hope

A driver has been airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Port Hope — east of Oshawa.
- The incident took place in the eastbound lanes of the highway between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road before 7 p.m. ET on April 20.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that “technical collision investigators and reconstructionists” are assisting with the investigation.
- The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road were closed for several hours.

The cause of the two-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
