Did AGM Renovations close?

AGM Renovations (AGM) claims on the home page of its website that it’s “permanently closed.”

In a recent letter to tradespeople, vendors, and independent contractors, CEO Ivan Atanasov said media coverage by CBC News has “severely impacted” the company’s reputation “making it financially impossible for us to continue operations.”

“This is a situation we never expected to face, and I want to personally extend my sincere apologies for the impact this may have on you. We have fought tirelessly to overcome these challenges, but the loss of trust from clients and the public has made it unsustainable to continue business as usual.”

The Ontario-based home renovation company, endorsed by TV celebrity contractor Mike Holmes, is facing several lawsuits from clients — alleging that unsafe modifications were made to their residences.

AGM said it can’t comment on cases before the courts and denies any wrongdoing.
