1 dead, 4 hurt after multi-vehicle Hwy. 401 collision in Cobourg
Incident details
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Cobourg.
The incident took place in the westbound lanes of the highway near Burnham Street just before noon on Jan. 16.
- Footage of the scene shows significant damage to multiple sedans and tractor-trailers.
- A 70-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. It’s unclear if he was driving the sedan or one of the tractor-trailers.
- Four people have been taken to hospital. Their injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.
