3 dead, teen hurt following fiery head-on crash east of Cornwall

Incident details
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fiery head-on collision east of Cornwall that claimed the lives of three people.
- The incident took place on County Road 2, near McGibbon Road, just after 9 p.m. ET on March 13.
- “The initial investigation has determined that an eastbound vehicle had crossed into the westbound lane of the roadway, forcing at least two drivers to take evasive action. Moments later, a head-on collision was reported, with one of the vehicles catching fire,” OPP said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
- The sole occupant of the vehicle that crossed into the westbound lane of County Road 2 was pronounced dead at the scene.
- One of the three occupants in the other vehicle, a 16-year-old boy from Cornwall, was airlifted to hospital in serious condition. The vehicle’s other two occupants, the driver and other passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.
- “The deceased have been identified as a 16-year-old female from Champlain Township, a 65-year-old female from Cornwall, and a 44-year-old male from Ottawa,” the post on X reads.
- Officials didn’t clarify which individual was driving the vehicle that crossed into the westbound lane of County Road 2.

Investigation updates
The cause of the fatal head-on collision remains under investigation.
OPP are asking anyone with information, including cellphone or dashcam footage, to contact 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident “E-250-304-292.”
