Rideshare passenger hospitalized after Hwy. 417 crash in Ottawa

A rideshare passenger has been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 417 in Ottawa.
- The incident took place in the westbound lanes of the highway near Nicholas Street before 7 a.m. ET on March 12.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said a passenger in a ride-sharing vehicle is being treated for minor injuries. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
- Several lanes of Highway 417 were temporarily closed — causing significant delays for commuters.
Investigation updates
The operator of the ride-sharing vehicle has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving. He received a 90-day licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
