Driver struck and killed while walking on Hwy. 417 in east Ottawa

Incident details
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision on Highway 417 in Ottawa’s east end.
- OPP said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that they received reports of a crash in the eastbound lanes of the highway at the Anderson Road interchange before 4:30 a.m. ET on Feb. 25.
- “A vehicle had entered the median and the driver then walked onto the live lanes of the highway and was struck by another vehicle. That person was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the social media post reads.
- Officials said in an update before 9 a.m. ET that eastbound lanes of Highway 417 were being reopened between Anderson to Boundary Roads.

It’s unclear if charges are pending at this time.
