Driver hospitalized after single-vehicle Hwy. 403 rollover in Hamilton

Incident details

A driver has been rushed to hospital following a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 403 in Hamilton.

• Just after 4 p.m. ET on Feb. 4, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that lane restrictions were in effect between Highway 52 and Wilson Avenue.
• “Indication is that the vehicle was initially travelling westbound on Highway 403 when it lost control and went into [the] steel guide rail on the right side of the westbound lanes — got tangled up, began to roll. The lone female driver was ejected…she’s been transported to hospital with unknown injuries,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video accompanying the post on X.
• Footage of the scene shows a dark-coloured sedan in the ditch beside the eastbound lanes — significantly damaged.

Investigation updates

The cause of the single-vehicle collision remains under investigation.
