Driver critical after 3-vehicle Hwy. 6 crash in Flamborough

Incident details

One driver is in critical condition following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 6 in Flamborough.

• Before noon on Feb. 1, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the highway was closed between Concession 6 and Concession 7.
• Officials said they believe that a driver — travelling northbound on Highway 6 — “lost control on slippery roads” and collided with two vehicles in the southbound lanes.
• One of the drivers struck in the southbound lanes was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
• OPP photos of the scene show significant damage to a dark-coloured sedan on the roadway as well as a pickup truck and SUV in a ditch.
• Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation said in a social media post that this stretch of Highway 6 reopened just after 3:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 1.

Investigation updates

The cause of the three-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
