OPP investigating 3 separate collisions on Hwy. 427 in Etobicoke
What happened on Highway 427?
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating three separate collisions that occurred on Highway 427 near Finch Avenue West in Etobicoke.
- OPP initially responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of the highway before 1 p.m. ET on Jan. 28.
- In the same area of the highway on the northbound side, a second crash occurred — involving four vehicles.
- OPP footage of the scene posted on X (formerly Twitter) shows significant damage to multiple vehicles, including a grey Mercedes and a blue sedan.
- “While we were dealing with the northbound [crash], [a second] collision happened on the southbound side. Two vehicles involved in that crash. Again, we’re always asking people to pay attention and focus on the road,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in an update video posted on X.
- Schmidt added that two people involved in the first collision were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
- Northbound lanes of Highway 427 were temporarily closed at Finch Avenue West so that crews could clean up debris.
