Snowmobiler dead, struck by pickup truck north of Barrie
Incident details
A snowmobiler is dead after being struck by a pickup truck in Springwater Township, north of Barrie.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the incident took place on George Johnston Road around 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 14.
- The driver of snowmobile, a 22-year-old man from Utopia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene.
- George Johnston Road was temporarily closed between Snow Valley Road and Hindle Lane.
Investigation updates
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Officials said poor visibility due to heavy snowfall and the wind were contributing factors.
