9 people hurt, 2 critical, after fiery TTC collision in North York

Incident details

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) is investigating a serious collision involving a white BMW—believed to be stolen—and a TTC bus in North York.

• Officers responded to the intersection of Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue before 2 a.m. ET on Nov. 18.
• Duty Inspector Brian Maslowski told reporters that a black SUV and a white BMW attempted to clear the intersection at a high rate of speed. While the black SUV cleared the intersection, the white BMW didn’t—colliding with a TTC bus and bursting into flames.
• Emergency crews removed four people from the white BMW. Two occupants were rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition.
• The driver of the TTC bus and four passengers suffered minor injuries, including a woman who was ejected from the vehicle.

Investigation updates

The search continues for the black SUV that didn’t remain at the scene. TPS haven’t laid any charges at this time.
