SUV driver dead following head-on collision with semi-truck in Alberta

Incident details

The driver of a Chevrolet Suburban is dead after a head-on collision with a semi-truck east of Slave Lake, Alberta.

• RCMP responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Highway 2 and Township Road 710A around 9:20 p.m. MT on Oct. 14.
• Mounties told Postmedia that the SUV, which was towing a flat deck trailer, crossed the eastbound lane and collided with the semi-truck.
• The driver of the SUV, an unidentified male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was treated for minor injuries.

Investigation updates

The cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation.

Cpl. Lou Leroux said there is “no indication of what the catalyst was for what caused the SUV to cross the centre line.”

Leroux added that charges aren’t pending at this time.
