Toronto driver surrenders after fatal hit-and-run that killed cyclist in Etobicoke

Incident details

The driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 26-year-old cyclist in Etobicoke has turned himself in to police. On Tuesday, Andreas Erodotou, 28, surrendered to investigators at Toronto Police Traffic Services. He is now facing charges in connection with the late August collision near Burnhamthorpe Road and Kipling Avenue.

  • Police were called to the scene on August 24 at approximately 8:19 p.m. after the cyclist, riding westbound on Burnhamthorpe Road, was struck by Erodotou’s 2019 Volkswagen Jetta.
  • The cyclist was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. She was pronounced deceased on August 31, 2024.

Investigation updates

Following the hit-and-run, Toronto police appealed to the public for information. Andreas Erodotou is subsequently charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death under the Criminal Code
  • Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.

Although the driver has been charged, the investigation remains ongoing. Police are still seeking any additional information, including security or dashcam footage from the Burnhamthorpe and Kipling area at the time of the incident. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Toronto Police.
