Teen cyclist fatally strucky by car near Long Sault, Ontario

A devastating accident near Long Sault, Ontario, claimed the life of 14-year-old cyclist Charlotte Light on Friday afternoon, as reported by CBC News. The incident occurred on County Road 2, just west of Long Sault and outside Cornwall, Ontario. According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Charlotte was riding eastbound on the westbound shoulder of the road when she was struck by a car.

Emergency responders were called to the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m. Despite the efforts of off-duty firefighters and others who attempted life-saving measures, Charlotte was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Charlotte, who was set to start high school in Cornwall this week, was the oldest of six siblings. She was a talented soccer player, a budding actress, and a beloved friend to her classmates at her primary school in Ingleside. The community is mourning the loss of a young girl described as cherished and deeply loved by her family.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating fully with the police investigation. The OPP has described the incident as a “terrible tragedy” for both the family and the community.
