Milton: Elderly pedestrian severely injured by truck while crossing street
Incident details
A 70-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a truck in Milton on Thursday morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of Thompson Road and Maple Avenue around 8:45 a.m. The pedestrian was reportedly crossing the street when a pick-up truck, driven by a 51-year-old, made a left turn and hit the individual.

Victim information
The victim, a 70-year-old, sustained serious injuries and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics. No further updates on their condition have been provided at this time.
Investigation
Halton police’s collision reconstruction unit is currently investigating the incident. As part of their efforts, they are asking any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact them. At this point, it is unclear whether any charges will be laid against the driver involved.
Following the accident, Thompson Road was closed in both directions between Steeles Avenue and Woodward Avenue, while Maple Avenue was closed between Fleming Drive and Hemlock Drive. These closures were in place for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation, but both intersections reopened shortly after 11 a.m.
