Fatal Skead Road crash after pickup truck drops down embankment near Sudbury Airport

A 45-year-old man tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Skead Road near the Sudbury Airport on Friday night. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. when the pickup truck he was driving struck the guardrails and plunged down an embankment.

Victim information
According to the Greater Sudbury Police Service, the truck was traveling northbound on Skead Road when it collided with the guardrails and went off the road. The force of the impact ejected the driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant.
Emergency responders, including the City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic and Fire Services, arrived promptly at the scene and administered life-saving measures. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigation updates
The Greater Sudbury Police Service is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash. The road was closed overnight at Nickel Rim South Mine Road, with normal traffic resuming just before 4 a.m. on Saturday.
