Truck driver charged with impaired driving in fatal Markham crash

Markham, ON – A 55-year-old man from Caledon faces serious charges following a fatal multi-vehicle crash in Markham on Monday. The incident resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to another driver.

Incident Overview

York Regional Police responded to reports of a crash involving a box truck and two sedans near Don Mills Road and Simonston Boulevard, close to Steeles Avenue and Highway 404, shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Initial investigations revealed that the box truck, driven by Trevor Hepburn, 55, of Caledon, was traveling southbound when it crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic, colliding with two vehicles.

Victim Details

Tragically, a 33-year-old female driver of one of the sedans was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second sedan sustained minor injuries and received medical attention. Hepburn also suffered minor injuries and was subsequently arrested.

Charges and Investigation

Hepburn has been charged with impaired operation causing death and dangerous operation causing death. The investigation is ongoing, and York Regional Police are seeking any video evidence from witnesses to assist in their inquiries.
