Interview Summary

The Ontario provincial government has proposed new legislation that would require all employers to disclose salary ranges in job postings as well as whether or not artificial intelligence was used during the hiring process. Are there disadvantages to disclosing salary ranges?

Jon Pinkus, a Toronto employment lawyer and Partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP spoke to CTV News about the proposed legislation and its impact on both employers and employees.

“It just makes it more well-functioning and labour-accommodating,” said Pinkus. Pinkus goes on to explain that he doesn’t believe this will be necessarily significant due to the jobs that will be exempt from the salary cap.
