JSI Store Fixtures Closing Collingwood Plant
JSI Store Fixtures will close its facility at 395 Raglan Street in Collingwood by the end of 2026, leaving 63 employees affected.
According to CollingwoodToday, LSI Industries attributed the decision to changing business conditions.
The company plans to move Canadian manufacturing to its Toronto-area operation, which it will call its Canadian Center of Excellence.
JSI manufactures retail displays and store fixtures for grocery and convenience stores. LSI Industries acquired the business in 2021.
The company says it is supporting employees through the transition. Individual termination dates will depend on when operations end.
For affected employees, the important question is whether their severance package reflects everything they’re owed.
How Much Severance Does JSI Store Fixtures Pay?
There is no single severance package that applies to every JSI employee. What you’re owed depends on your age, length of service, position, compensation and employment contract.
Non-unionized employees in Ontario can receive up to 24 months’ compensation. That’s often far more than the minimum amounts set out in the Employment Standards Act.
Your severance package may need to include:
- Regular wages or salary during your notice period.
- Overtime, bonuses or other regular compensation.
- Health, dental and other employment benefits.
- Additional compensation based on your years of service, age and position.
Long-serving manufacturing employees may be owed significantly more than their employer’s initial offer.

What If JSI Offers You A Transfer?
LSI Industries plans to consolidate Canadian manufacturing near Toronto. That doesn’t mean every Collingwood employee will be offered another position.
If you’re offered a transfer, you don’t necessarily have to accept a job that significantly changes your working conditions.
A much longer commute, lower pay, reduced hours or major changes to your responsibilities may amount to constructive dismissal.
Refusing comparable work can also affect your severance rights.
Get the proposed terms in writing before accepting or refusing a transfer. Don’t resign.
What If You’re Asked To Stay Until The Plant Closes?
Some JSI employees may continue working while the Collingwood facility winds down.
Being given advance notice of a closure doesn’t automatically mean you’ve received everything you’re owed.
The amount of working notice, your employment contract and any severance offered all matter.
If JSI asks you to remain until a particular date, review the terms before agreeing to any changes or signing a release.
What If JSI Or LSI Terminates You Outside The Plant Closure?
You don’t need to be part of a mass layoff to qualify for severance.
If JSI Store Fixtures or LSI Industries eliminates your position or terminates you individually, you may still be owed compensation.
That includes manufacturing, warehouse, administrative, technical, supervisory and management employees.
Even if your employer says you were fired for cause, that doesn’t automatically mean you lose your severance rights. Poor performance or a single workplace mistake often isn’t enough to deny severance.
Your rights don’t disappear because your termination wasn’t part of the Collingwood closure.
What Should You Do Before Signing A JSI Severance Package?
- Get everything in writing. Keep your termination letter, employment agreement and proposed severance package.
- Check your full compensation. Your severance may include more than your regular wages.
- Have your offer reviewed. An employment lawyer can explain what you’re owed and whether there’s room to negotiate.
⚠️ A Signing Deadline Doesn’t End Your Rights. JSI or LSI may give you a deadline to accept a severance offer, but that’s different from the legal deadline to pursue compensation. Signing a valid release typically prevents you from seeking more. Get advice before signing.
