What Happened In The Latest Oracle Layoffs

Business Insider reported that affected employees were told their roles had been eliminated as part of organizational changes and that the notification day would be their final working day. Oracle had not responded to the publication’s request for comment.

On September 15, The Financial Express reported layoffs in India, citing people familiar with the matter who estimated roughly 3,000 employees were affected. That is a reported India estimate, not a confirmed global total. The publication said Oracle had not disclosed the Indian headcount or responded to its questions.

Restructuring Alongside Cloud Expansion

Oracle’s latest cuts come as it expands its cloud operations. The company’s September 10 earnings release reported US$19.3 billion in quarterly revenue, a 30% increase from a year earlier. Cloud infrastructure revenue rose 121% to US$7.4 billion.

The company’s fiscal 2026 restructuring disclosure describes operational changes that include adopting AI across certain functions. The plan includes severance and other exit costs.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Oracle’s workforce had already declined by approximately 21,000 over the previous year. That historical change is separate from the job cuts reported this September.

What Has Been Reported About Severance

Business Insider’s U.S. severance report describes four weeks of base pay plus an additional week per year of service. The newly reviewed documents did not specify a maximum payment.

Those reported U.S. terms do not establish what employees in Canada are entitled to receive. A Canadian package needs to be assessed under the applicable law and the employee’s own agreement and circumstances.

What Canadian Employees Should Do

Samfiru Tumarkin LLP is already reviewing severance packages for Oracle employees in Canada. If you have received an offer, we can help you understand what it includes and whether it reflects your legal entitlement.

Our contact with Canadian employees does not establish the total number of Canadian jobs affected by the September round. You can have your own offer reviewed without waiting for a company-wide total. Tell a lawyer at our firm about any acceptance deadline before signing a release.

You could be owed up to 24 months’ pay. Your severance depends on factors such as your age, how long you worked for Oracle and your position. It can also include bonuses and benefits—not just your salary. Have your package reviewed before signing to find out what you could be owed.

You do not need to work out the amount yourself. A review can explain whether the offer reflects your rights and what options are available.
