Peel police have laid charges in connection with a fatal pedestrian collision near Mississauga Hospital on July 18, 2026.

What Happened?

• The incident took place in the area of Queensway West/East and Hurontario Street around 11:20pm ET on July 18.
• According to officials, a woman in her 20s was struck by a vehicle while jaywalking. She fell from the mid-block median into westbound traffic.
• Emergency crews rushed the woman to a trauma centre. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead.
• The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman — a man — left the scene for roughly 8 minutes before coming back. He was arrested and then released “unconditionally” for the time being.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged with failure to remain at a collision resulting in death. An investigation continues into whether there was “criminal intent.”
