Health Care, Manufacturing Scooping Up Talent Affected By Tech Layoffs

What’s Happening?

Health care and manufacturing are among the industries scooping up talent affected by recent tech sector layoffs, according to iCIMS’ June 2026 Workforce Report.

The talent acquisition platform found that tech-related hiring — compared to May 2025 — is:

  • Up 8% in health care
  • Higher by 4% in manufacturing

“The tech layoff headlines can be jarring, yet they mask an important shift: tech talent is moving from a handful of large providers into the broader economy,” Trent Cotton, head of talent insights at iCIMS, said in the report.


What’s the Fastest-Growing Tech Role?

Year-over-year, iCIMS found that the fastest-growing tech occupation is: computer programmer (+35%).

Other fast-growing roles include:

  • Software developers (+28%)
  • Database administrators (+27%)
  • Computer & information systems managers (+22%)
  • Software QA analysts & testers (+20%)
