Is the TDSB Cutting More Jobs in 2026?

Yes — In addition to cutting 289 teaching positions, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is planning to eliminate approximately 218 administrative roles in 2026.

“After years of declining enrolment, the TDSB is taking steps to modernize and right-size the number of central administration staff to ensure resources are focused where they matter most — in schools and classrooms,” a TDSB spokesperson told CityNews Toronto.
