1 Dead, 1 Hurt Following Head-On Hwy. 35/115 Crash East of Oshawa
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal head-on collision involving 2 SUVs on Highway 35/115 near Newcastle — a community east of Oshawa — on April 26, 2026.

What Happened?
- The incident took place in the northbound lanes of the highway near Concession Road 3 before 2pm ET on April 26.
- A photo of the scene shows significant damage to a white SUV and a dark-coloured SUV — with debris scattered across the roadway.
- An 80-year-old man — a Clarington resident — was driving 1 of the SUVs. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other SUV was taken to hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.
- Northbound lanes of Highway 35/115 were temporarily closed between Highway 2 and Concession Road 3.
Investigation Updates
The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
