What Happened?
- The incident took place in the westbound collector lanes of the highway at McCowan Road around 10:25pm ET on April 16.
- When emergency crews arrived, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
- All westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 were closed between Markham Road and McCowan Road for several hours.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. No foul play is expected.
