82-Year-Old Man Dead, Struck by Vehicle on Hwy. 401 in Quinte West
An 82-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 401 in Quinte West — a community west of Kingston — on March 1, 2026.

What Happened?
- The incident took place in the westbound lanes of the highway near County Road 40 around 7:30am ET on March 1.
- According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a vehicle stopped in a live lane with a flat tire. The passenger in the vehicle, an 82-year-old man from Pembroke, was struck by a passing vehicle. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital.
- Officials didn’t clarify if the second vehicle remained at the scene of the collision.

The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
