A man is dead and 4 other people are in hospital after a Toyota SUV left the road and struck a building in Ottawa’s Lowertown neighbourhood on Feb. 25, 2026.
What Happened?
- The Toyota SUV crashed into a building that houses The Drop-In centre on Rideau Street at Cobourg Street, east of King Edward Avenue, around 9am ET on Feb. 25 — hurting 3 male pedestrians and 1 female pedestrian.
- According to officials, one of the 3 injured men — described as “elderly” — has been pronounced dead in hospital.
- The driver of the SUV was also taken to hospital. His condition is stable.
- Photos of the scene show slushy and partially snow-covered sections of the roadway.
