Woman, 70, Dead After Double Hit-and-Run in Midtown Toronto
Toronto police are investigating a double hit-and-run in midtown that claimed the life of a 70-year-old woman on Dec. 31, 2025.

What Happened?
- The incident took place at Eglinton Avenue East and Dunfield Avenue, east of Yonge Street, just after 7:15am on Dec. 31.
- According to officials, the pedestrian was struck while crossing the street after grocery shopping. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The driver of one of the vehicles, a “light-coloured Hyundai SUV,” has been charged.
- No information has been provided on the second suspect vehicle at this time.

In a statement, Toronto police said 48-year-old Hamid Abdul has been charged with the following:
- Dangerous operations of a conveyance causing death
- Leaving the scene of a collision causing death
