• According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred in the westbound lanes of the highway near Newtonville Road around 2:30am ET on Oct. 10.
• A fire truck was assisting emergency crews who were responding to an earlier collision in the area.
• “A tractor-trailer collided into the rear of that fire truck. 2 firefighters inside that vehicle were taken to hospital,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video on X (formerly Twitter).
• The injuries that the firefighters sustained aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
• No injuries were reported for the driver of the tractor-trailer.
