Waterloo Regional Police say the collision occurred around 3:40 p.m. at Albert Street and Seagram Drive, near Wilfrid Laurier University.

• A Honda sedan struck a utility pole
• The 24-year-old male driver was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead
• Emergency crews closed the intersection for several hours to repair the pole and begin the investigation
