Michael Gerhard is a Partner with Samfiru Tumarkin LLP’s Long-Term Disability and Personal Injury Law practice.
Michael represents injured individuals and people facing denied or terminated disability benefits across Ontario and Alberta. He regularly assists clients looking for a long-term disability lawyer in Toronto or a long-term disability lawyer in Calgary, as well as those seeking an experienced personal injury lawyer in Toronto or personal injury lawyer in Calgary.
He uses his deep understanding of Canada’s insurance and civil litigation systems to hold insurers accountable when disability claims are denied or personal injury victims are treated unfairly.
Michael is known for his detailed, compassionate approach, helping clients reduce stress while pursuing the compensation they are legally entitled to. He has successfully represented clients before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Municipal Board, and the Ontario Small Claims Court.
Before joining Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, Michael trained at both an insurance defence firm and a leading personal injury law firm—experience that gives him unique insight into how insurers evaluate and defend claims.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys travelling, creative writing, and live music.

Education
Prior to attending law school, Michael earned an Honours B.A. from McMaster University, majoring in philosophy and completing a senior thesis on constitutionalism. He then graduated from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law in 2013 and was called to the bar in 2014.
Michael has received numerous prestigious awards in the area of legal research and teaches a paralegal class on the subject at Seneca College.
