What’s Happening at Lockheed Martin?

Lockheed Martin is reportedly planning to further invest in Canada after the federal government acquired 26 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers from the company in 2026.

“As part of Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy obligations, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control will undertake meaningful business activities and invest in Canadian industry to support the growth of Canada’s defence sector,” the Department of National Defence said in a news release.

Lockheed Martin is expected to:

  • Integrate Canadian companies into global supply chains
  • Invest in Canadian research and development
  • Support the development of small and medium-sized businesses

It remains unclear if this agreement will immediately create new employment opportunities in the country, or if job creation will take place over a certain period of time.
