Employment lawyer Alex Lucifero on vaccination for LTC workers
Interview Summary
Canadians who have relatives in long-term care homes are expressing their dissatisfaction with the rate of vaccinations for LTC workers. While some employees have been vaccinated, others are choosing to opt-out of the COVID-19 vaccination which has led to outbreaks in several homes.
Alex Lucifero, an Ottawa employment lawyer and partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, joined CTV News to discuss the rights of employees in long-term care homes in regards to vaccines.
Will employees in long-term care homes be forced to be vaccinated? “Certainly, it’s possible. However, it’s far from certain. There would be arguments in favour of imposing a vaccination program in regards to COVID-19 in particular industries, in the health care industry specifically,” Lucifero states.
